The books were and still some of the finest artwork I've ever seen. Ottomo is amazing. I pale in his shadow, but it was alot of fun doing this piece. Enjoy.

Never read the books, only seen the movie. How differen't were they?

Well, I can answer that. There's a lot of differences between the movie and the book. First, I think the movie is trying to summarize books 1 to 6. After that, there is 6 or 7 books about the Akira Empire, in a post-apocalyptic world where Akira is the Emperor and Tetsuo, his first advisor or something. And there's also new characters such as Lady Miyako and an American Soldier on a Secret Mission. You should read the books if you have the chance.

Totally agree with you for the live action. Luckily, I don't think they'll have enough money for this project. But if they do, let's just hope that Katsuhiro Otomo will work personally on this movie.

By the way, for Otomo's fans, and if you haven't already done it, I suggest to watch ''Memories'', a great animated movie, with 3 stories written by Otomo itself. Enjoy!
